Travel Safety

Current Travel Warnings – Jun 15 (US Department of State)
Travel Warnings are issued when long-term, protracted conditions that make a country dangerous or unstable lead the State Department to recommend that Americans avoid or consider the risk of travel to that country. A Travel Warning is also issued when the U.S. Government's ability to assist American citizens is constrained due to the closure of an embassy or consulate or because of a drawdown of its staff.

FDA approves new combination vaccine that protects children against two bacterial diseases – Jun 14 (FDA)
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Menhibrix, a combination vaccine for infants and children ages 6 weeks through 18 months, for prevention of invasive disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups C and Yand Haemophilus influenzae type b.

Update:Multistate Outbreak of Human Salmonella Infantis Infections Linked to Dry Dog Food – Jun 13 (CDC)

NEW:Multistate Outbreak of Shiga Toxin-producing Escherichia coli O145 Infections – Jun 11 (CDC)
CDC is collaborating with public health officials in multiple states to investigate a multistate outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli serogroup O145 (STEC O145) infections. Public health investigators are using DNA "fingerprints" of E. coli bacteria obtained through diagnostic testing with pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, or PFGE, to identify cases of illness that may be part of this outbreak.
