The American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Foundation scientific statement on sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease provides an overview of the types and prevalence of sleep apnea and its interactions with cardiovascular disease. In particular, it addresses patients with both cardiovascular disease and sleep apnea; how sleep apnea may contribute to cardiovascular disease; and treatment options.
