Description of Resource: 
The National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is the lead institute at the National Institutes of Health for research in food allergy. NIAID is committed to supporting efforts to help better understand, prevent, and manage this disorder that affects approximately 5% of children and 4% of adults in the United States. NIAID food allergy research spans the spectrum from basic research in allergy and immunology to clinical trials that are testing new strategies to treat and prevent food allergy. The Web portal provides access to the clinical and patient resources such as the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Food Allergy in the United States and Frequently Asked Questions. It also has links to supporting research materials and to a large number of associated groups.
