The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends against screening for ovarian cancer in women. This recommendation applies to asymptomatic women. Women with known genetic mutations that increase their risk for ovarian cancer (for example, BRCA mutations) are not included in this recommendation. This is a D recommendation, which means the USPSTF recommends against the service. There is moderate or high certainty that the service has no net benefit or that the harms outweigh the benefits.
