Description of Resource:
The School Breakfast Toolkit presents information to promote and expand School Breakfast Programs as a way of supporting positive health and academic outcomes for children. Research has shown that starting the day with a nutritious breakfast helps students stay alert and perform better in school. The toolkit is designed for individuals who have an interest in increasing access to their School Breakfast Programs, determining the type of meal service that best suits their needs and developing a marketing plan that will capture and maintain their customers. A variety of materials including PowerPoint presentations, information sheets, letters, and marketing materials are designed to be customized and adapted to meet a school's specific needs. The toolkit sections address how to use the kit, conducting a program assessment, calculating costs, methods used to organize a breakfast program, roadmaps to success, marketing efforts, program evaluation, resources, and an evaluation of the toolkit.
