Description of Resource:
The Advisory Committee on Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention recommends (1) the term “level of concern” (e.g., blood lead level (BLL) >10 ug/dL considered to be of concern) be eliminated; (2) the use of a reference value based on the current distribution of BLL among U.S. children ages 1 to 5 to identify children and environments associated with lead-exposure hazards; (3) the implementation of a nationwide primary prevention policy; (4) the development and enforcement of lead-safe housing standards; and (5) the adoption of prevention strategies to reduce environmental exposure from lead in soil, dust, paint, and water before children are exposed.
