Approaches to Better Understand Human Influenza Transmission

CDC sponsored a workshop on influenza transmission in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 4-5, 2010. The purposes of the workshop were to review state of the art science in influenza transmission, to identify gaps in understanding the modes of influenza transmission, and to identify the best approaches to understanding influenza transmission in order to resolve continuing questions about the relative contributions of contact, droplet, and airborne transmission of influenza in humans.

Meeting materials are available through the links below. For more information on Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) IP11-011: “Virologic Evaluation of the Modes of Influenza Virus Transmission Among Humans,” please contact Dr. Eileen Yee at 404-498-0097 or bwd3@cdc.gov. Persons requiring additional workshop materials should email CDC at Transmissionworkshop@cdc.gov.
