CDC South Africa is Proud to Announce the Recent Graduates of the South African Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program

Eight South Africa Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme residents completed their training and were awarded Master of Public Health Degrees at the April 2013 graduation ceremony held at the University of Pretoria. A total of 35 residents have graduated and been awarded public health degrees since the SAFELTP program started in 2006. Little bigger than a large toaster, this machine is designed to provide CD4 results - the measure of a person’s strength of immune system - within twenty minutes. This promises to be a revolution in care for health care workers in the HIV field, such as Angie Satira.

The South Africa Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme is designed to train field epidemiology residents and public health laboratory residents for public health leadership positions in the South African national and provincial departments of health.
