From January 2009 through December 2010, acute gastroenteritis (AGE) outbreaks exhibited winter seasonality: 68% (2,972 of 4,376) of AGE outbreaks occurred during November–April. 80% (1,530 of 1,908) of outbreaks caused by norovirus and 71% (1,086 of 1,524) caused by unknown etiologies occurred during November–April.
